Welcome to the Issues

Central's system is 100s of miles long across multiple counties with decisions affecting the entire state.  The issues are complex.  Here are few that matter most to Kyle in Lincoln County.

Water Supply

Lake Mac is low.  The dam was built

for irrigation.  But not all of the water

is for Central Irrigators.  Shepherd

aims to protect the lake for

irrigators and recreators against

outside interests.

Lincoln County Lakes and Lake Mac

The water that runs out of Lake Mac

travels through Lincoln County where

multiple power plants and reservoirs

are located.  Advocating for additional

water from Colorado through the

Perkins Canal will be key to kepping

these systems operating well into the

future.

Lasting Safety of Dams

Kingsley Dam is damaged but SAFE!

It needs to be repaired to store water

effectively.  The funding will be a

challenge.  Federal and State

cooperation will be key.
